Then attach it to an object associated with your work,
and keep them both on your altar together (or at your
place of work).

COINS
A silver coin buried under the doorstep of your
home brings prosperity and good fortune. If you live
in an apartment, try placing it under a decorative
planter or taped securely under your doormat instead.
(—Patricia Telesco)

RED CORD
Take a red cord or yarn about 12” long and tie
four knots in it, saying as you do:
One knot for luck,
Two knots for wealth
Three knots for love
Four knots for health.
(—Gerina Dunwich)
Keep the knotted cord in your mojo
bag and wear the bag around your neck.

Health and Healing

WART CURE
Tape a copper penny over the wart with a Band-
Aid. Leave it on for three days, then bury the penny
beneath a tree at midnight. Say as you do:
Wart begone away from me;
Grow instead inside this tree.
My skin be smooth for all to see,
And all my body Blessed Be!

ABRACADABRA
A very ancient and popular spell for curing fever
or illness is the diminishing word “Abracadabra.”
Write it eleven times on a piece of rice paper, drop-
ping one letter each line to form an inverted triangle:

A B R A C A D A B R A
A B R A C A D A B R
A B R A C A D A B
A B R A C A D A
A B R A C A D
A B R A C A
A B R A C
A B R A
A B R
A B
A
Roll the paper into a tight tube and tie it around the
afflicted’s neck. Wear it for nine days and nights, and
then throw it over the left shoulder into a stream.

TO BANISH SICKNESS
Write the subject’s name on a piece of parchment,
and put it in a mojo bag with the following healing
herbs: angelica, bay leaves, cinnamon, fennel seeds,

horehound, rose petals, rosemary, thyme, vervain, and
Violet flowers. Say:
Witches’ herbs and magick flowers,
Fill this bag with healing powers.
Let the wearer of this charm
Be free of sickness, pain, and harm.
(—Gerina Dunwich)

HONEY ELIXIR
At noon on a Sunday, hold up honey to the Sun
that their double gold may run shining together, mixed
as one. Swallow three spoonfuls, then say this:
Sun charge me,
Gold serve me,
Alchemy change me,
Honey preserve me.
(—Valerie Worth)

Protection

WHEN PASSING A CEMETERY
Cross your fingers, hold your breath,
and say aloud this verse for Death:
Keeper of bones, I know thy face,
But I shall yet outstrip thy pace.
(—Valerie Worth)

ELEMENTAL PROTECTION CHARM
On a piece of parchment,
write the following words:
Air cannot freeze me.
Fire cannot burn me.
Water cannot drown me.
Earth cannot bury me.
Roll it into a tight tube, tie with a
red cord or yarn, and carry it in your mojo bag.

LEMON PROTECTION CHARM
This Italian Strega spell for a friend or loved one
is best performed at midnight of a full Moon. You’ll
need a fresh lemon, three white candles, and a box of
colored pins. At the stroke of midnight, light the
candles and stick the lemon full of pins, repeating as
you do:
Queen of Moon and starry sea,
Diana, I present to thee,
With each pin I cast a charm,
Keep (name) from all harm!
Give it to your friend as a present.
It will bring good luck and keep evil
away from you and your loved one both.

CHARM WANDS
Get a test tube with a stopper, or use any small
clear cylindrical container, such as a spice jar. Fill it
with fennel seeds (a protective herb). Tie it with a
ribbon, bless it, and hang it by your door. Any evil
