202 Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard

Then smudge with sage, going throughout the house
or around the person deosil, and wafting the
smoke into every corner and closet. Chant:
Through Smoke of Fire I purify
No evil shall remain nearby.
Cleansed of harm and ill are ye,
As my will, so mote it be!
Finally, take your besom and sweep out the
entire house, sweeping the salt up with the
dust, chanting:
Tout, tout, throughout and about,
Let peace remain, and strife go out!

Manifestation

TO MAKE A WISH COME TRUE
Draw the sign of the waxing Moon with a thorn
onto a short, fat beeswax candle (a white votive candle
is perfect). Light the candle, gaze into the flame,
and concentrate on your wish as you chant:
Gracious Lady Moon,
Ever in my sight,
Kindly grant the boon
I ask of thee tonight.
Blow out the flame but hold its light in your mind for
as long as you can. An answer will be revealed to you.

GENERAL INCANTATION OF MANIFESTATION
For any spell you do, after you have completed
the rest of the working, finish off with this:
By all the powers of Earth and Sea,
By all the might of Moon and Sun,
As I do will, so mote it be!
Chant the spell and be it done!

Love

TO ATTRACT A LOVER
Crumble dried laurel leaves and scatter them over
the burning charcoal in your thurible.
Smell the smoke, and chant:
Laurel leaves, burn in fire,
Bring to me my heart’s desire.

HEARTSTONE SPELL
Start with a small heart-shaped stone of amethyst,
fluorite, moonstone, or agate. During the waxing
Moon, burn a solid red candle. Mix a little vervain
into the soft melted wax, and shape it around the stone
into a red heart, saying:
Wax to heart thou art transformed.
Two be one, and love be warmed!
Hold it in your hand until it cools, and say:
Ishtar, Venus, Aphrodite,
Let a new love come to me,
By thy power, Wizard’s Stone,
I’ll no longer be alone.

Come to me, come to me,
As I will, so mote it be!
Keep the waxen heart on your altar, or in your mojo
bag. (—Ann Grammary)

TO MAKE LOVE GROW
Plant a flowering bulb, such as a tulip, daffodil,
or narcissus, in a new clay pot. As you cover it with
earth, repeat the name of the one you love.
Then each morning and evening, say over it:
As this root now deeply grows
And its blossom gently blows,
Thus my true love’s heart shall be
Gently turnéd unto me.

Wealth and Prosperity

TO ACQUIRE WEALTH
Lay five gold coins in a circle around a little coin
purse. Light five gold (or green) birthday candles, plac-
ing a drop of wax on a coin and then setting the candle
upright in the wax. As you do this, repeat each time:
Bona Fortuna, hear my verse;
Gold and silver fill my purse.
Visualize images of money filling and overflowing
your purse. Keep this up until all the candles are
burned out. Then put the coins, covered in wax, into
the purse and keep it on your altar.

MOONLIGHT SILVER
Take a shallow bowl of water, and sit down on
the grass in a place where the full Moon shines. Set
the bowl down in front of you, and catch the reflec-
tion of the Moon in the water, saying three times:
Aradia, Aradia, I implore thee,
Please to grant my wish for me.
By the powers of Moon and sea,
As my will, so mote it me!
Then gently skim your hand over the surface of the
water, capturing the moonsilver in your hand. Before
the water settles, empty the bowl onto the Earth, and
return home. Do not look back at the moon after you’ve
caught the moonsilver, or you’ll break the spell!

TO FIND TREASURE OR LOST THINGS
On the first night of the full Moon, kiss the palm
of your hand and hold it up to the Moon with the first
three fingers folded down, and thumb and little fin-
ger outstretched. Recite the following:
Pray to the Moon when she is round,
Luck with you shall then abound.
What you seek for shall be found,
On land or sea or underground.

TO CALL A LOST PET
Place some favorite food in your pet’s familiar
bowl. Light a blue candle next to it and say:
