Exercise 6.1: General Manager and Chief Executive of the
Walter E. Washington Convention Center Resigns
The general manager and executive director of the Walter E. Washington
Convention Center resigned from her position after two-and-a-half years
to spend more time with her family.
An offi cial who chairs the authority said members had talked about
the pressure to move the convention center to “ the next level of competi-
tion. ” The board wants to bring more retail, conventions, and businesses,
including banquets, to the facility. The board, however, thought the per-
formance of the chief executive was satisfactory and was not dissatisfi ed
with her performance.
Question
- Before hiring a new general manager and chief executive, a job analy-
sis should be conducted. What job analysis method or methods would
you recommend to identify the most important KSAOCs for the posi-
