THE RECOVERY BURGER
The carb-protein balance makes this a perfect postworkout meal. For even cooking, allow the
patties to rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before grilling.

10 OUNCES LEAN GROUND TURKEY
4 TABLESPOONS TERIYAKI SAUCE
2 SLICES FRESH PINEAPPLE
2 THICK SLICES RED ONION
2 WHOLE WHEAT BUNS, TOASTED
½ JALAPEÑO PEPPER, THINLY SLICED
2 SLICES SWISS CHEESE
1. Form the ground turkey into 2 patties. Grill over high heat for 4 minutes per side, basting frequently
with 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce. At the same time, grill the pineapple and onion slices until lightly
charred.
2. Put each burger on a bun and layer on the onion, pineapple, jalapeno, and cheese. Top with the
remaining 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce.

Marinate food for at least 30 minutes before cooking. If you are using a rub on meat, apply it
immediately before you toss the meat on the grill. The salt in the rub will draw moisture out of
the meat if left on the food too long before cooking, making it dry.
