Shinobu Yume Yamaguchi holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University, New
York, and is a Professor in the Global Scientific Information and Computing
Center at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech), Japan. She
teaches graduate courses in the Department of International Development
Engineering, and has served as a guest lecturer at the Foundation of
Advanced Studies on International Development. Dr. Yamaguchi also
serves as a Council Member of the university and as a planning officer for
the International Office at Tokyo Tech. Before taking up her appointment
at Tokyo Tech, she worked for UNESCO as a programme expert. She was
involved in the education development in China, Mongolia, Indonesia and
Pakistan, with a particular interest in distance education to promote human
resource development. She is currently conducting research in the areas of
information and communication technology (ICT ) and education, as well
as the application of ICT for management of World Heritage Sites. With her
international background, she works with various agencies as a committee
member to promote international activities, including with the Ministry of
Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Japan Society
for the Promotion of Science.


Muhammad Zuhdi is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education and the
Director of the Language Development Center of the Syarif Hidayatullah State
Islamic University (UIN), Jakarta, Indonesia. His previous experience includes
serving as the Director of Education of the Jalan Sesama (Sesame Street
Indonesia) Project 2006–2012 (www.jalansesama.or.id). He holds a Bachelor
of Islamic Education from the Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Syarif
Hidayatullah Jakarta, a Master of Education from the University of New South
Wales, Sydney, and a Ph.D. in Education from McGill University, Montreal.
His academic research interests include curriculum studies, teaching and
learning, multicultural education and religious education. In 2011, Dr Zuhdi
was awarded the Australian Alumni Award for Excellence in Education.
