Awaken to the Myths about Meat
One of our most destructive dietary myths, which many people from
developed countries still mindlessly repeat, is the belief that we
need to eat meat and animal products to get enough protein. Those
with the money to perpetuate these myths will continue to do so
as long as you unconsciously choose to believe them and buy their
products. With respect to space and having mentioned the research
proving the nutritional superiority and adequacy of nutrients in a
semivegetarian diet in my previous three books, I will simply sum-
marize by saying this: if you eat primarily whole grains, beans, and
fresh, locally grown produce daily, and focus on consuming a lot
of dark - green leafy vegetables, you will enjoy the healthiest diet
on earth, which will be more profoundly healing for your body and
the planet than any other single act you can do! If you want to
include some dairy products, especially yogurt, choose the organic
brands that honestly follow the organic certifi cation guidelines.
Remember that the latest and most accurate recommendations are
made by the Cornucopia Institute, at http://www.cornucopia.org. It is the
most respected watchdog for the organic movement and is extremely
helpful at keeping us informed about companies that claim to be
organic but often are not, such as the Horizon brand.
All Organic Is Not the Same
One of the main issues the Cornucopia Institute tracks has
been the corporate takeover of organic agriculture. Nowhere
has this been more evident than in the dairy sector. The Horizon
label was acquired by the agribusiness behemoth Dean Foods.
