Applebee's Blondie Brownies


Everyone has a sweet tooth, and nothing is better than a warm brownie with ice cream.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 12
1 cup flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
Pinch baking soda
Pinch salt
½ cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
11/3 cups packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
½ cup vanilla baking chips
¼ cup unsalted butter
¼ cup maple syrup
1 (8-ounce) package softened cream cheese
½ teaspoon maple extract


1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir in the nuts. Set aside.
3. Use an electric mixer to beat together the butter and 1 cup brown sugar. Beat in egg and
vanilla.
4. Slowly beat dry mixture in to wet mixture. Stir in vanilla baking chips by hand.
5. Spread batter into a greased 9′′ × 9′′ × 2′′ baking pan. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a
toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Set aside to cool.
6. In a saucepan over low heat, melt ¼ cup butter and maple syrup. Stir remaining 1/3 cup
