Contributing Artist Bio’s

Dr. Dakota Corblissis currently the Visiting Assistant Professor of Horn at Appalachian State University in
Boone, North Carolina. Corblisshas previously served as an instructor of horn at the University of South
Carolina, UNC-Wilmington, and Coastal Carolina University. Corblisshas recently co-founded a new music
group called PIVOT, a horn and saxophone duo that aims to use their music to "pivot" the views of their
listeners on important social issues. Their first album "terraform" has been released and is available on all
streaming platforms. In an administrative role, Corblissis currently the Director of Operations for the Brass
Institutes of America, a series of brass chamber music festivals that take place in the summer in Fredericksburg
and Norfolk, Virginia. He has also worked logistics on many projects including the Savvy Arts Venture Challenge
and the College Music Society Summit. Corblisshas earned a DMA from the University of South Carolina School
of Music, an MM from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, and a BA from Virginia Tech. His teachers
have included JD Shaw, Richard Todd, and Wallace Easter.

The Cor Moto Horn Duo is a professional horn duo compromised of James Naigusand Drew Phillips. Both
composers, performers, and teachers, the duo has performed and taught across the United States. James
Naigusis Lecturer of Horn at the University of George and Drew Phillips is the Associate Professor of High Brass
at Liberty University.

James Currencehas been Adjunct Professor of Horn at Union University since 2021. He is currently a Doctoral
student at the University of Memphis and has performed with the Miami, Jackson, and Southwest Florida
Symphony Orchestras. In his spare time, he enjoys arranging and transcribing works for horn ensembles.

Dr. Nicholas Fife is from Fort Mill, South Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of
South Carolina in 2011. In 2013 Nick earned a master's degree from Louisiana State University, where he was
the graduate teaching assistant for the horn studio. In 2020 Dr. Fife finished his DMA at the University of Texas
at Austin, andtaught at Texas A&M International University while living in TX. His professional performing
career began while attending the University of South Carolina, performing with Symphony Orchestra Augusta
and the South Carolina Philharmonic. He has also performed with the Beloit Janesville Symphony, Laredo
Philharmonic, Victoria Symphony Orchestra, Mid Texas Symphony, Louisiana Sinfonietta, Baton Rouge
Symphony Orchestra, TigerlandBrass Quintet, Beaufort Symphony, Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Freedom
Brass Band, the Texas All Star Horn Professor Horn Choir and other ensembles across the United States and
Canada. Dr. Fife is currently the Adjunct Instructor of Horn at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and
the Associate Lecturer of Brass Studies at Coker University. Lastly, In March of 2019 Nick founded the South
Carolina Brass Band, as a non profitorganization. The goal of SCBB is to hire local musicians to serve the
community through musical performance, and to inspire another generation of brass musicians.

James Green is the quintessential horn geek. He began playing horn in 1976 and studied with the late Marvin
McCoy and Minnesota Orchestra horns David Kammingaand Phil Myers. After two significant hiatuses (1986 -
1995 and 2009 –2016), Jim returned to horn performance with the Notre Dame Symphony in 2017 while
working on a large construction project on that campus. Upon returning home to Michigan from South Bend,
James performed with the Mason Symphony, Livingston Symphony, Fenton Symphony and Spectrum
Orchestra in the greater Detroit metro area. During this time, he studied with Mark Abbott and Dave Everson
with the Detroit Symphony. Jim relocated to East Tennessee in 2018 and began performing with the Nashville
Praise Symphony in Fall of 2021 under renowned Christian composer and arranger, Camp Kirkland, and will
play principal horn with the Knoxville Praise Symphony in April 2022.
James is fascinated with vintage Kruspeand 8D horns after purchasing his first, vintage 8D in the late 90’s. His
40 - year quest to find a vintage Kruspecame to a successful conclusion in 2017, when he purchased a vintage,
pre-WWII <>. He now focuses predominantly on collecting and performing on vintage
Kruspeand Conn 8D models. His biggest playing influences are the legendary Vince DeRosa, Rick Todd, Jim
Thatcher, and late Richard Perissiand Brian O’Connor. You can follow his horn antics in the Facebook group
