The procedure followed in teaching of the idea of predecessor may be followed to
teach the concept of successor also.

- Multiplier
In calculating the product of any two numbers, the number by which a given number

For example, in the multiplication 47 x 68, 47 is called multiplier.
- Multiplicand
The number which has to be multiplied by the multiplier is called as the multiplicand.
In the example 47 x 68, 68 is called the multiplicand.
- Dividend
A number to be divided by another number is called the dividend. In the problem

The child may be taught the ideas of dividend, divisor, quotient and the remainder by
demonstrating a division problem in the abacus.

A number by which another number is to be divided is called the divisor. The idea may
