RATIONAL NUMBERS
- Rational number
Any number which can be expressed in the form qp, where p and q are integers
and q≠ 0 is called as a rational number. The set of rational numbers is denoted by the
letter Q.
Eg. : 53 , − 85
Note that the set of rational numbers comprises of natural numbers, whole numbers,
fractions and integers.

- Irrational number
Any number which cannot be expressed in the form qp, where p and q are integers
and q ≠0 is called an irrational number.
Eg. : 2 = 1.414... is an irrational number. Similarly, 3 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 and
10 etc., are also irrational numbers.
