TRIANGLES
- Triangle
A triangle is a closed figure formed by three line segments. In other words, a triangle
is a plane figure with three straight sides and three angles.
A cut out of a triangle can be given to the child to explore its shape. On exploration,
the child may clearly understand that a triangle has three sides and three angles.
Note : 1. Sum of the angles of a triangle is 180o.
- Equilateral triangle, Isosceles triangle, Scalene triangle, Right angled triangle,
Acute angled triangle, Obtuse angled triangle are the various types of triangles. - Parts of a triangle
A triangle has mainly six parts namely three sides and three angles. The meeting
point of any two sides is called the vertex.
Provide the child with a triangle made out of paper or plastic. Allow the child to
explore and then the parts of the triangle may be explained. In the process, different
types of triangles may be given to the child to understand the nature of various
types.
