Intensify the pale blue snow on

the ground. Use the sharp edge

of the tan brown pastel to add

flecks of light to the grasses and

along the ground. Next, use the

flat side to add a golden glow

to the tips of the grasses to

indicate light reflecting from the

sun as it disappears behind the

mountain. Add shades of green

to the trees.

Use a charcoal stick or black

soft pastel pencil to add bark to

the trees and within the leaves

to indicate shadows. Using the

flat side of the ice blue pastel,

add a light layer to the snow

as it meets the water. Add tan

to the trees. Use a pale gray

soft pastel pencil to add light to

the tree trunks and to the bark.

Then create frozen grasses

along the edge of the riverbank.

Add bright white highlights to

finish the painting.
