Using the chisel

edge for blending

Select three shades of green from dark to light. Starting with the darkest, use the chisel edges of the

pastels to overlap vertical shapes onto the surface. Blend the colors together with an upward motion.

This technique is perfect for creating an underpainting for detailed grasses and flowers.
