Using the chisel edge of a pastel, work in the shapes of the trees and a few main branches. Block in

the sky, and include a small area of white to indicate sunlight coming through the clouds. You can use

purple for the distant trees, with a light covering of pale green on the fields. Placing bright yellow and

green on the trees in the center of the composition reflects the highlights coming from the sun. Block

in the path, and scribble the grasses with dull shades of green, yellow, and brown.
