mesmerizing reflections. Use these tips to create your own painting of a body of water.

Keeping the initial drawing

loose using just a charcoal

pencil helps the subject

retain a sense of freedom.

The grass in the foreground draws

the eye into the painting.

For the first application of color, focus on blocking

in the key areas of the scene, such as the light

source and reflections in the water.

Use the side of a pastel to create grass.

Use a range of light green and pale blue pastels to highlight

reflections in the water.

Use the chisel edge of a pastel to draw the main

elements in the painting and their shadows.

Create details, such as branches, with a charcoal stick.

Blend the colors with the tip of your finger.

Complete the painting with the edge of a

pastel and various pastel pencils.
