Who do think you are?
When I was first growing up my Spirit was very bright and I believed
anything was possible. But when I was eleven years old, I had a dream to
play on the Chicago Sting, our pro soccer team. My next door neighbor
said, “Did you know that there are millions of other boys all over Chicago
who want to play for the Sting, many who are way better than you? He
laughed at me, punched me in the stomach, and said, “Who do you think
you are?” So I gave up on that dream and put myself in a small, tight box
of limitations.
But my Spirit is HUGE, bigger than ANY box I’ve built for myself.
When I was sixteen years old, my dad introduced me to Wayne Dyer,
who helped me break out of my first box. I keep breaking out of boxes,
to find another box, a bigger box, containing who I am. And each time I
find a bigger box, I discover a new piece of myself.
And so I’m constantly reinventing myself, discovering more and
more pieces of who I am. My Spirit keeps brightening, and even though
