The South
In temperate climates, such as in the U.S., the upper
half of our astrology chart maps the area of the sky
above us (Zenith) and to the South. This is the most
open part of the chart, since it includes the very top of
the chart (the Midheaven, in the zodiac) and all of the
sky and heavens above us. The top of the chart
includes the six houses: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. Later
in this course, we will see that this very open upper area
of the chart represents our outer or public aspect—out
in the open—and those who are born with most of their
planets in these upper houses (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12)
are said to have a more public destiny—some outward
show.
