Recap:
The Mavs had played the Lighting in a tight game earlier in the tournament. They were under no
impression that it would be an easy rematch, and they came to the rink ready for business in the
tournament championship, playing their usual aggressive style right from the opening faceoff.
Approximately three minutes into the action, a great cross ice pass from Phillips in his own zone to
Hargadine in the neutral zone set up the first score. Hargadine cut through the defense and beat the
goalie over the left shoulder to open the scoring. Dungey added the second goal less than a minute
later, O’Bryant tacked on another in the next minute, and the rout was on.
The Mavs completed a dominant performance for their second championship of the season.
