Game 2: Pool Play vs. Sioux City Musketeers (Sioux City, IA)
Result: KC Mavs 27
Sioux City 0
Recap:
Kansas City had its eyes on a 2-0 start in pool play. But first, they needed to go through Sioux City, a
different team from the same club they faced in Cedar Rapids. The Musketeers had surely heard of the
Mavs by now, but they were definitely not prepared for what was about to happen over the next hour.
The score sheet read like a football game, and the Mavs wasted no time in lighting the lamp.
21 seconds into the game... Owings stole a loose puck and buried it. Five minutes later, Buscher
connected with Hargadine for the second goal. Less than a minute later, Brown added a goal. With just
under four minutes remaining in the period Wiesner added two goals that were 10 seconds apart.
O’Bryant tacked on a goal before the end of the period to make it 6-0, and the rout was on.
The 2nd period included goals from Wiesner, Unnerstall, Buscher (two goals, five seconds apart),
Hargadine, Brown, along with Brody Koegler’s first goal of the season. The offensive pressure was
relentless, and the Mavs weren’t done yet. They took an 18-goal lead into the 3rd period, and the Mavs
continued to spread the offense around, with everyone contributing. Koegler not only notched his first
goal of the season, but also a hat trick, as he was part of a well-oiled machine that finished up the
contest 27-0.

Result: KC Mavs 6
Hazen Beulah North Stars 0
Recap:
Hargadine opened the scoring in the first five minutes, a hard shot that knocked the stick out of the
goalie’s hands. The puck bounced into the net after Hargadine separated the goalie from his stick, and
the Mavs had sent a quick message to the opposition. O’Bryant tacked on a breakaway goal in the 1st
period, and the Mavs took a two-goal lead into the 2nd period.
