Amorosi, now based in LA, is
choosing to talk publicly about her
family and motherhood for the very
first time. She met her American
husband, Rod Busby, at an LA cafe on
her way to the studio six years ago. “It
was instant. We talked for hours that
first time we met,” says Amorosi, who
walked down the aisle two years ago.
Their son, Killian, was born the year
prior. “My husband is the complete
opposite of me. He’s a martial artist
so he’s all about fitness, routine and
structure. He loves music, but he’s
completely tone-deaf and rhythm-less.”
Describing her son as a “fireball”
and a “tornado”, Amorosi admits she
is apprehensive about discussing the
family-life she’s kept private for so
many years – and to bare her soul on
her new album. “I’m super nervous
about this record, it’s a daunting
road because I’m pushing so many
limits,” she says. “But I think if I was
comfortable coming back, then it
wouldn’t be the right comeback.”
And with nervousness, comes
excitement. Amorosi is most looking
forward to taking her music to the
stage, having tested out her new
sound last month on the Red Hot
Summer tour alongside John Farnham,
Daryl Braithwaite and Jon Stevens.
“Performing live is a feeling of pure
joy. It’s the ultimate victory.”
NORAH JONES
When Norah Jones crooned “Come Away With Me” in 2002, we
promptly started following her everywhere – and handed her five
Grammys. Last year, she quietly headed back to the studio to record
Begin Again, a collection of eclectic singles. Bring on the 2020 Grammys.
KATE MILLER-HEIDKE
Pop-opera queen Kate Miller-Heidke hit the big time with her track
“The Last Day on Earth” in 2009, and proceeded to promptly drop off
the face of the earth or, at least, out of the spotlight. Her new Eurovision
track “Zero Gravity” chronicles her personal comeback.
SARA BAREILLES
In 2007, Sara Bareilles was adamant she wasn’t going to write us just
another “Love Song”. Now, after a four-year hiatus from music, she’s
released a new album Amidst the Chaos. The first single “Armor”
is written for the #MeToo-era, celebrating women’s strength.

STABILITY”
“Heavy Lies the Head” is out now.
