have been formed in the early 1900s when the Mexican

government was testing military weapons on these then-

uninhabited islands. It’s so secluded you can only reach the

beach by first swimming through a 40-foot-long rock tunnel.

Hawaii WHY IT’S BIZARRE The jet-black sand on this

skinny stretch of beach is made up of tiny bits of hardened

lava, produced over centuries by the nearby (and still
