Step 1 Wrapa little black yarn at the centre
ofthefirstarm.
Step 2 Wrapgreyyarnat the sides and on
topoftheblackyarn.
Step 3 Wrapcreamyarnatthesidesandon
topofthegreyuntilthearm is full. Wrap the
otherarmwithcream.
Step 4 Finishthepompomas usual, knotting

Step 1 First,youneedtoknowthatthepatternsoneacharmwill
appearinthefinishedpompomsymmetrically,oneithersideofthe
centraltie.Thismeansthata lineofsymmetryrunsbetweenthetwo
layersofeacharm,asshownherewiththelayeredspoteyeball..
Step 2 A windingdiagram,likethisoneforthelayeredspot,canhelp
youtoplanwheretoplaceeachyarncolour.Somewindingdiagrams
aredifferent,butoursshowsonearm,dividedintothirdstohelpget
aneveneffect.Coloursarewoundontopofeachother so each area is
numbered in the order you wind it onto the arm.Step 3 Nowtrymakinga pompom using a winding diagram, like this
onefora pandahead.
Step 4 First,wrapSection1 Blackaroundthearm,attheangleshown
inthewindingdiagram.WrapSection 2 White on both sides of the
blackspotandslightlyontop.
Step 5 WrapSection 3 Black over the white, at the angle shown in the
diagram.
Step 6 FilltherestofthearmwithSection4 Whiteandwraptheother
armwithallwhite.Yourpandaheadwillhaveoneblackspotforthe
noseandspacedspotsfortheeyes.Verycarefully(youcan’tundoa
cut!),trimandshapethemuzzle,thenadd crochet ears (ch5, tr in 3rd
