TO THE MOON AND BACK
Move over, forest bathing, there’s a new way to get in tune with ourselves and nature. Borrowing from Ayurveda,
a 5,000-year-old holistic mind-body-spirit system of wellness, moonbathing helps balance mood and hormones,
according to conscious living and wellbeing author Eminé Rushton. ‘Many of our hormones are light-regulated,
so the more time we spend in natural light (day or night), the better chance we have of balancing them,’ she
explains. She suggests sitting out for 30 minutes under moonlight once a month (when the moon is waxing or full).
‘It’s relaxing and has been shown to promote better sleep,’ she says. Who wouldn’t be over the moon about that?
Sattva: The Ayurvedic Way To Live Well (Hay House) by Eminé Rushton and her husband, Paul, is out now.
