Woman wants to hold on to FART
A woman in the US is fighting hard to hold on to her “FART” car registration plate.
Karly Sindy bought it in October but has now been told that members of the
public have complained about it. To keep it, she has to prove that the word
is important to her, so she set up a hiking group called Friends of Asheville
Recreational Trails (or F.A.R.T.) and told the authorities about it. The group now
has a website and merchandise. Sindy said 15 people turned up when she held
a meeting for the group.

Legend plays for pub team
Football fans in the village of Hanwood in Shropshire, England, got a treat
when Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos made an appearance for a local pub
team called Bull In The Barne FC. The club won a competition that was
organised to raise money for a charity called Football Without Borders. Carlos
won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002 and was a Champions League winner
three times with Real Madrid. However, despite scoring a penalty, Carlos
couldn’t prevent Bull In The Barne FC from losing 4-3 to Harlescott Rangers.

Brrr! Incredible ice record broken
A man from Poland has broken the world record for the longest time someone has
spent with their body submerged in ice. Valerjan Romanovski spent three hours
and 28 seconds in a tank of ice in a street in Lithuania, smashing the previous
record of two hours, 35 minutes, 33 seconds. When he came out of the ice he was
wrapped in blankets to make sure he safely returned to a normal temperature.
Romanovski said the record was “a sign that I have mastered a given field”.

Cinema lets out bats for film
A cinema in Austin, US, has been criticised for releasing 50 bats into a crowded
auditorium (place where the audience sits) before a screening of the new film
The Batman. Videos on social media showed filmgoers fleeing as the bats
caused havoc. An employee could be heard shouting, “If you are uncomfortable
being in the dark with the bats, please remove yourself now.” The manager
apologised and offered everyone free tickets to another showing. He admitted
the cinema had gone “too far” in its attempt to make the screening as
atmospheric as possible. What do you think? Is this real or have we gone batty?*

Valerjan Romanovski lasted
more than three hours.
