Coaching Points: When jumping, the player should begin with a counter movement and jump
explosively upwards and backwards, while rotating 180-degrees in the air. They must jump high enough
to perform the turn and clear the hurdle; so emphasize powerful extension of the ankles, knees and hips as
well as proper arm action. You should emphasize proper landing technique (discussed earlier) as well.


Variation: You can vary the exercise by having the players perform a different technical action such as
volleys with the laces, or control with the chest and then volley.


Progression: You can progress this exercise to a high intensity level by having the players jump off and
land on one leg or by increasing the height of the hurdle.
