most exercise should now be soccer-specific. At this stage, it is also important to include more exercises
aimed at increasing reaction time (Dribble and chase, Ball-drop). At the same time, greater emphasis
should be placed on teaching proper posture and mechanics when starting and accelerating.


As children enter adolescence, there is a natural increase in body strength. This is important because the
coach can start incorporating basic strength and plyometric exercises into the program. When players
reach the latter stages of this age range, they can progress to more advanced plyometric exercises to
optimize neuromuscular coordination.
