On August 6, Apple started inviting select
members of the public to apply for the Apple
Card within the Wallet app. These public test
users will also be able to order the Apple Card
in its physical form, reports TechCrunch.
According to the news site, Apple Card will not
get its full rollout until later in August, but it’s
exciting that we will now get more reports of
how the card will work in practice.

TechCrunch’s Matthew Panzarino, who has spent
a few days experimenting with Apple Card on
his own device, has described the application
process as “simple for me”, with portions of the
required information pre-filled from the user’s
existing Apple ID account. The on-screen card
changes color according to how you spend,
while “the card interface itself is multiples better
to use than most card apps”, and Apple won’t
collect or view any data about where or what
you bought.

It’s unclear how the geographical reach of Apple
Card’s availability could spread over the coming
months and years. However, with Apple having
applied for Apple Card trademarks in Europe,
Hong Kong and Canada, the company looks
intent on expanding the service. Furthermore,
with Apple Pay having quickly expanded its
coverage to another 13 countries this summer,
it’s easy to agree with CNBC’s Jim Cramer that
the Apple Card will be hugely popular.
