If a winter of sitting down watching Netflix,
eating roasts and playing Wordle has left
you feeling sluggish and your skin looking
dull, then get acquainted with your
lymphatic system, a part of your immune
system that is responsible for removing
toxins and cellular waste and moving excess
fluid around the body. “By activating your
lymph you are encouraging elimination of
toxins that make you feel puffy and washed
out,” says Kate Shapland, founder of the
leg-care line Legology.
Start with your diet and reduce your salt
intake. However, according to Shapland
Himalayan bath salts “have diuretic proper-
ties, so they help free trapped fluid that causes

puffiness. They also boost circulation and
lymph flow, combating heaviness in legs.” The
skin-health expert Marie Reynolds recom-
mends taking the crystal salt into the shower.
Mix it with your shower gel or body oil to
create a souped-up exfoliator. You don’t need
anything fancy, Westlab Cleansing Hima-
layan Bath Salt ( 1 £7) does the job perfectly.
Next step? Dry body brushing. Both Shap-
land and Reynolds are big believers in the
power of the body brush, and you only need
to spend a minute a day before your shower.
“Brushing skin in an upward motion, always
in the direction of the heart, will exfoliate the
skin and improve circulation,” Reynolds says.
Legology Lymph-Lite Boom Brush for
Body ( 2 £16) can be used on dry or wet skin,
before, during or after a shower. Shapland
recommends using it in quick, light flicks to
move any trapped fluid.
