Art Matters
In Memoriam
In her 2013 autobiog-
raphy, Dare to Dream,
Urania Christy Tarbet

space for dreams.
“If a dream is kept
under a basket, it
will surely die from
lack of sunlight,” she
wrote. Tarbet, who passed away on

she loved so much—continues to
expand its reach to artists and enthu-
siasts around the world. Current IAPS
President, Richard McKinley, says,

touched our lives, but everyone work-

by her advancement of pastel.”
When I attended my first IAPS
convention in 2007, Urania invited
me to lunch on one of the first days.
