New Orleans Art Association. Plein Air Pastel & Watercolor
Sketching for three days in the historic French Quarter. The
workshop will help beginners and advanced artists conquer
the challenges of painting cityscapes. Alan will demonstrate
with pastels and show how he combines sketching with
watercolor to create detailed studies on location. The New
Orleans Art Association will provide transportation
to painting sites in the French Quartet.

Workshops. Painting Impressionistic Landscapes In Pastels
& Oils. The workshop will concentrate on painting in an
impressionistic manner using broken color and loose brush
strokes. The cool mountain village of Cloudcroft in Southern
New Mexico has hosted summer workshops for over 60 years.

In Venice. Join Alan for seven exciting days of painting,
sketching and exploring in Venice, Italy. Daily painting and
instruction will be combined with a walking art tour of Venice,
visit to the outer islands in the lagoon, an evening concert and
studio time to work on compositions you started on location.
Lodging will be at a renovated convent-double or single room
with ensuite bathroom and shower. Daily Venetian breakfast
and 5 dinners with wine are included in workshop cost.

Susan Nicholas Gephart
“Capture the Skies and More” with this seasoned plein air
painter. Susan is known for her colorful, impressionistic skies
and ability to express landscape atmosphere in both pastel
and oil. She has been teaching and painting award-winning
landscapes for over forty years, and she is Pastel Faculty for
the 2017-2019 Plein Air Conventions. Her workshops include
studio and plein air demos. Susan is a Dedicated Workshop
Instructor for Gamblin Oils, a demonstrator for Sennelier,
and has a new 80 Signature set of Richeson Hand-Rolled
Soft Pastels. She is an associate member of PSA, a signature
member and the current president of the Central Pennsylvania
Pastel Society, and a co-founder of the Plein Air Painters of
Central PA.
