Today’s pick
Sound of Cinema: Feast
Radio 3, 3pm
Food, glorious food is our
subject this week and
especially the way the
colours and smells of what
we eat have lifted the cinema-
going experience. The
presenter Matthew Sweet’s
hook is the new HBO series
Julia, which tells the story of
the American cookery show
pioneer Julia Child (played by
Sarah Lancashire). Child was
also the subject of the 2009
film Julie & Julia, where she
was played by Meryl Streep,
above. It followed the fortunes
of a New Yorker, played by
Amy Adams, who challenges
herself to cook all 524 recipes
in Child’s Mastering the Art of
French Cooking in 365 days.
