USE THE RIGHT SETTINGS

CHOOSE THE PERFECT LENS

Settings are key for turning a good image
into a great one. Here are our suggestions
to help you get the most from your camera.

Bestfor quality
Perfectforshootinga widevarietyof
su bjects, the 18-55mm f/2.8 kit lens
is the equivalent of a 27-84mm focal
ra nge on a full-frame sensor. To shoot
yo ur street image, begin with your
focal length at its longest at 55mm
(8 4mm equivalent). As your subject
walks towards you, carefully zoom
out while continuing to press the
shutter button.

Bestfor versatility
Workingwitha zoomlenswill be
particularly helpful for this module, as
yo u’ll be able to stand a fair distance
fr om your desired composition to avoid
alerting your subjects to your presence.
Being able to zoom in and out will also
help you continue to capture frame-
filling shots if your subject is walking
towards you. Try the 18-135mm
f/3.5-5.6 lens for versatility.

SWITCH TO

MONO SHOTS

For this module, you can shoot
your reflection image in either
colour or black & white. Mono
provides dramatic contrast and
also helps your viewer focus on
the form of your subject, rather
than colourful distractions in the
background. To find out how to
set the camera to shoot street
photography in black & white,
consult your manual.

SELECT YOUR FOCUS

selecting your focal point. To get the best
results possible, ensure you have the area
selection box hovered over your focal
point. See p94 for more.
