Keep the planning
short and sweet.
“
If you’re hosting the party, it’s best to keep the guest list short and the party
simple,” says chef and restaurateur Happy
Ongpauco-Tiu. She shares that it usually
takes her a week to plan a party, which
includes deciding on a theme, creating a
menu, and doing everything on her to-do list. If you’re pressed for time, stick to accomplishing the basics: Set a date,
invite your guests, and prepare the food.
Always prepare a little extra. One of the most common mistakes a newbie host makes is preparing just HQRXJKIRRGIRUWKHFRQ¿UPHGKHDGcount. When guests help themselves to the buffet, chances are there will be dishes that will run out faster than others. “There is nothing more embarrassing than running out of food at a party,” says Ada. Be generous with the portions you prepare—you can always pack the extras for guests to take home.
