In our comparison we did the simulations for batch operations:
Substrate is circulated until a certain amount of substrate is converted. In a
two-phase fluidised bed substrate is not totally converted due to product
inhibition. When the product concentration reaches the toxic product
concentration in the medium phase, the conversion stops. At this moment,
the product concentration inside the gel bead and in the medium phase are
the same and equal to the toxic product concentration.
