Hydrating Body & Hand
Skinscreen SPF50+
(£27; spacenk.com)
The part of our body that’s most
exposed to the sun is the one we
so often neglect. I have a tube
of this cream by my front door
and I try to remember to use it
every day. It is fast-absorbing,
so I’ll rub some into my shins
if it’s a bare-legs day. This brand
is fast becoming a beauty
editors’ favourite for suncare.
It’s created by Australians,
who know a thing or two
about sun protection.

DON’T FORGET
YOUR LIPS
Nivea SPF30 Sun
Protect Caring Lip Balm
(£3.99; superdrug.com)

PROTECTION WITH
ADDED GLOW
Supergoop! Glow
Screen SPF30 (£15;
cultbeauty.co.uk)
It does what it says on
the label and gives skin
beaming luminescence,
the kind I’ve only ever achieved
with expensive make-up from
Chanel or Nars. Even if you
are not interested in almost
embarrassing levels of radiance,
this is a useful, non-spenny brand
for clever everyday sunscreens.
The Unseen Sunscreen (£15) is
just that and the new face powder
sunscreen, called (Re)Setting
Powder (£28), is genius.

THE ONE FOR TEEN/
BLEMISHED SKIN
La Roche-Posay
Effaclar Duo+ SPF30
(£17.50; boots.com)
SPF products can be a
nightmare for young or
oily skin, clogging up pores
and exacerbating spots.
The entire Effaclar line is
my top recommendation for skin
that is prone to breakouts. This
is the sunscreen I buy for my
daughters. Yes, start them young.

THE LIGHT-AS-A-
FEATHER GEL
La Roche-Posay
Hyalu B5 Aquagel
SPF30 (£34.50; boots.com)
You can almost hear your
face slurping as it drinks
up this ultra-hydrating gel.

OIL-FREE
PROTECTION
Shiseido Urban
Environment Age
Defense Oil-Free
SPF30 (£34;
shiseido.co.uk)
This brand has great form when
it comes to sun protection and
this light, oil-free lotion is among
the best in the line-up. It’s good
for oily and combination skin, but
it’s also useful as a primer because
it won’t send your make-up
sliding all over your face.

DON’T FORGET
YOUR HANDS
Ultra Violette
Extreme Screen

Lips can get sun-damaged too.
There are fancier SPF products
for lips, but this one does the job
perfectly well.

THE BRONZING ONE
Dior Beautifying
Protective Creme
Sublime Glow SPF50
(£27.50; fenwick.co.uk)
Technically, this is more
of a holiday sunscreen
for slathering on
between dips in the pool, but it’s
lightweight enough for everyday
use. I wouldn’t try applying it
before make-up, but with the
subtle instant bronzing it offers,
you might feel you don’t need
make-up anyway. n
