a collection of “Gardening

striped organic cotton seat
cushions, £19.

ADD IN SOME VINTAGE
Indoors, we don’t want our
rooms to look box fresh,
furnished with brand-new
buys. Equally, in the garden
a few vintage pieces add
character. Take a leaf out of
Lisa Dawson’s book and stalk
eBay for inexpensive retro
chairs and tableware. Or
splash out on vintage Tolix
seats from Merchant and
Found, from £275.

personal side table at elbow

sofa. It needs to be big enough
for a glass, a book and a phone,
but not large enough to share.
New in at Soho Home is a
gorgeous glazed concrete
specimen called Rina, £255. On
a smaller budget, try the Rive
Droite side table from Garden
Trading’s bistro range, £30.

CUSHIONS AND RUGS
Finishing touch textiles make
for a luxurious lounging area.

collection includes Orla Kiely’s

outdoor kitchen, featuring
what promises to be the
hottest grill of the summer, a
blackened steel asado.
Wareing’s hanging frame
(perfect for displaying his
Netherton Foundry pans) with
layered grill system over a
brasero log basket was
designed by Tom Bray, of
Country Fire Kitchen, £1,554.

ROCKING CHAIR
Forget the swing sofa, this
season the seat to invest in is
a rocker, such as Amara’s
rope weave rocking chair,
£325. Get your garden rocker
for less at Aldi, £129.99.

HOT TUB
Last summer hot tubs sold out
across the home retailers, and
Airbnbs with Jacuzzis were
booked solid. It was the year
the home hot tub went
mainstream. In 2022 the most
opulent example to invest in is
the Riverstone Hot Tub, made
from a salvaged Riverstone
boulder from the Merapi
volcano in Central Java,
£60,000. More reasonably
priced models are selling
like... hot tubs. Sales at the
inflatable spa supplier Lay-Z-
Spa have soared 184 per cent
since the beginning of March.
Its entry-level tubs cost £360.

INDOOR-STYLE OUTDOOR
LIGHTING
You need living room-style
layered lighting, including
pendants and table lamps, to
cosy up an outdoor space. Try
hanging solar lanterns, in
Tyvek, from Sparkle, £34.99,
overhead, and on tables try
LED portable lamps such as
PC by Hay, £89. Budget
options include rattan solar
lanterns from Lights4Fun,
£21.99 for two.

TINY SIDE TABLE

not a shin-grazing coffee table,
but a small, round, portable,
