CAN WE JUST IGNORE THE

“DISPUTED” PASSAGES?

Some evangelical feminists silence the most relevant

Bible passages on men and women by saying

they are “disputed”

Another evangelical feminist method of effectively denying the author-

ity of Scripture is one taken by authors Cindy Jacobs, Sarah Sumner, and
Rich Nathan, and also by the position paper of the Assemblies of God
on “The Role of Women in Ministry.”
Cindy Jacobs is a widely known speaker and writer whose writings
on prayer have been greatly appreciated, especially in charismatic circles.
Her book Women of Destiny^1 identifies her on the dust jacket as “founder
and president of Generals of Intercession, an international prayer min-
istry” and also as a member of the international board of Aglow
International. Her book is published by Regal Books. Sarah Sumner is a
theology professor at Azusa Pacific University, and her book Men and
Women in the Church^2 is published by InterVarsity Press. Rich Nathan
has had a very successful ministry as senior pastor of Vineyard Church
of Columbus, Ohio, and is on the National Executive Board of the
Association of Vineyard Churches. Nathan’s book Who Is My Enemy?^3
