The difference method of constructing the mRNA histogram was used
in analyzing the 50 ORFs encoding the KIAA pathway and the resulting
A vs. C plots are shown in Figure 7.22. When the drug-induced changes
in the slope of the A vs. C graphs are plotted against the average SMs of
the short, intermediate, and long surviving groups, a reasonable linear cor-
relation with a negative slope was found (see the bottom panel in Figure
7.22), indicating that the proteins encoded by the KIAA pathway is harm-
ful to breast cancer patients when averaged over five patients.
