Plate 14.3 Principal-component plot for annual mean composition of samples from
Grizzly Bay (central San Francisco Bay estuary). Years (numbers inside each pie
diagram) cluster in before and after the Corbula amurensis invasion groups. There is a
partial tendency for samples from wet (W) years to cluster apart from samples from
dry (D) years. Some years (no label) had average precipitation and thus freshwater
flow in the estuary. Species composition in each year shown as pie diagrams. Pie-
sector colors are by phylum: blues for clams, reds for crustaceans, etc.
