Pitching up at Lealands High School, Prince
Harry, 34, didn’t have to try to win the affections of
pupils from five local schools taking part in some
touch rugby.
The youngsters were delighted to meet their
royal visitor, with 11-year-old Zara-Jess Gudza
enveloping him in a cuddle (above right).
“It was just the inspiration – he’s so big in this

world and he came to this school,” she said, adding:
“It felt crazy to meet someone who is part of the
royal family.”
Harry also received an offer to chow down at a
barbecue being held nearby.
“I gave him an invitation to a barbecue at my
house. He didn’t read it, but said he would read it
later,” said pupil Freddie Theron, 11.
“I just can’t believe he actually came to watch
rugby. I’m so glad to be picked to meet him.”
Harry was at the school to mark it becoming the

750th to join the Rugby Football Union All Schools
programme, which aims to increase the number of
secondary schools playing rugby union.
As patron of the scheme, the passionate rugby
fan made sure he spent time chatting to the pupils
and their teachers and coaches (below).
Speaking about sport earlier this year, Harry said
rugby stood out for him because of “those core
values, and the people that you see on the pitch live
by those values on the field and at home and in
their own communities”.
