Juke interior leaps
into 2020 with a
bit of help from
the Micra

Next-gen Juke:

five big changes

Sunderland’s smash-hit crossover has been
reborn to conquer all foes. By Jake Groves

1 The striking
design returns
It is, however, a little more reined-in
than before. The ‘V-motion’ grille seen
on every other current Nissan has been
slapped on the front and, while the
circular headlights remain, the new
signature is similar to a radioactive
warning sign. No hazmat suit required.
Plus, if you go for the plush Tekna+
grade, you can customise the roof colour
and panel inserts.

2 Interior quality steps up
The coloured centre console
inspired by motorcycles is no more,
but the new Juke has taken a leaf out
of the much-improved Micra’s book of
interior quality. Neat new details include
circular central air vents and high-up
infotainment screen – it seems Nissan
has been copying Ford’s homework, too.

3 Big-car tech on board
ProPilot assisted driving from
the Leaf EV and Qashqai is available
in Nissan’s new baby crossover, as is an
updated NissanConnect infotainment
system with Apple CarPlay, Android
Auto and Google Assistant voice control.
Bose’s PersonalSpace headrest speakers
are available, too – something we
encourage audiophiles to specify.

4 Finally, it’s practical!
Nissan has addressed
one of the old Juke’s main problems
compared to its ever-growing cast of
rivals: practicality. The new version is
longer, wider and taller, so it should
be less gloomy in the back and doesn’t
have a boot area smaller than an ant’s
backpack. In fact, the 422-litre loadbay
is larger than a Seat Arona’s and a DS 3
Crossback ’s.

5 Simple powertrain choice
Manual or seven-speed dual-
clutch auto? That’s your only decision to
make, as every Juke model is powered by
a 115bhp 1.0-litre turbocharged three-
cylinder engine that’s already found in
the Micra. The order books are open
now. Prices start at £17,395, with the
cheapest auto costing £3k more. If you’re
quick, there’s a Premiere Edition model
at launch – but just 140 are for the UK.
