literature can be amassed, it is incumbent on
veterinarians to communicate with their clients
about these options and guide them in seeking
knowledgeable V‐OP providers (veterinarians)
and responsible fabricators. State practice acts
should be amended and enforced to address
the prescription and use of V‐OP devices.
Training and certification programs should be
developed to educate those veterinarians inter­
ested in providing these solutions, and fabrica­
tors should be held to the same standards
required in H‐OP, even as H‐OP requirements
and licensure are becoming more stringent.
