with an endorectal coil, provides high-quality imaging of the zones of the

prostate. Its role is to determine whether the cancer is confined to the

prostate. Spectroscopy is a relatively new technique that may improve

tumor localization and detection of extracapsular spread. The role of

spectroscopy is not in the characterization of a prostate nodule.
