be of significant benefit. Salvage chemotherapy with a regimen such as
VIP, with or without aggressive local therapy, is indicated for recurrent
disease.

This young man presents with symptoms of mediastinal compression and
physical signs of Klinefelter’s syndrome. Karyotypic analyses of mediasti-
nal germ cell tumors have revealed the 47XXY pattern of Klinefelter’s
syndrome in up to 20% of patients. Klinefelter’s syndrome is also asso-
ciated with male breast cancer and rare cases of seminoma have been
reported, but it has not been associated with an increased risk of thymic
tumors or non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
