nspired from the islands of the Seychelles, KanKan is a high

fashion brand that is reflective of the paradisaic elements of

the islands with a stylishly elegant flair. The creole word for

‘spreading the word’, the brand features unique collections of

clothing, jewellery and tableware. Karine Dupouy, the fashion

designer who created the brand says that the KanKan woman is a

sophisticated and elegant dresser with a busy lifestyle who demands

designs of the highest quality but yet with comfort on holiday.

‘I want to take my designs and Seychelles fashion to an international

level and that is why I strictly add Seychelles to my branding guidelines.

I couldn’t think of anywhere else to live, my heart belongs here.’

Born in Mauritius but raised in Seychelles, Karine graduated from

the London fashion school Central Saint Martins and wants to make a

big contribution to the fashion world both in Seychelles and beyond.

Couture

Elegance and beauty is apparent in the collections, which seemingly

have two main categories; Ready to Wear and Haute Couture. The

ready to wear collection contains summer dresses, kaftans and tops

in subtly printed cotton, perfect for the warm summer season and

the elegant, classic evening wear jumps out at you as you marvel at

the attention to detail and romance in every stitch. The designs and

outfits are unique and any woman wearing these designs will surely

stand out from the crowd.

Karine carefully selects all her beautiful silk fabrics from India and

Turkey, to ensure the best quality. There’s an artistic process that

involves pouring her heart and soul into each design, from the fabric

purchase, the designing phase, and then to the hanger.

‘As soon as I see a fabric I can visualise the garment in my head.

I used to favour black fabrics but am moving away from this shade

recently.’
