Ramblings
Radio 4, 3pm
Clare Balding, the tramping of
feet and the whipping sound
of wind against mackintosh is
one of the most delightful
things on the radio. A new
series starts today and she
opens in Londonderry to
meet the children’s author
and artist Oliver Jeffers, right.
As part of a free nationwide
arts project called Unboxed,
he has helped to create a
10km sculpture trail,
designed as a scale model of
the solar system. Explaining

his inspiration for the project,
he says: “If we could look
back at Earth from the
vastness of the solar system,
what would we feel? Wouldn’t
squabbles look stupid from
Saturn?” Ben Dowell
