STUNNING NEW WATCH FACES
AND COMPLICATIONS


It wouldn’t be right for Apple to introduce a new
version of watchOS without some new watch
faces, and the company has indeed delivered
with the latest iteration. It’s important to note,
however, that some of the latest watch faces
are limited to the Apple Watch Series 4, which
is perhaps Apple’s attempt to begin to phase
out some new functionality to users with older
Apple Watches, encouraging them to upgrade
to a more recent Apple Watch, or perhaps even
the Apple Watch Series 5, expected to feature a
bigger battery, more enhanced sports metrics,
sleep tracking, an always-on display option, a
thinner design, and wireless charging on the
back of the 2019 iPhones, which will offer
reverse wireless charging for the first time.


New Numerals Duo and Numerals Mono faces
put the time front and center, with large digital
readouts and analog faces. A new Modular
Compact watch face, on the other hand, allows
more complications than the previous
Modular face and offers a large watch face
dial alongside complications for the first
time, akin to a real watch with dials. A Gradient
watch face allows users to choose their favorite
color, which will animate as the time passes,
whilst a Solar Dial watch face helps to visualize
the sun in a 24-hour path, and the new California
watch face features stunning analog dials with
standard and roman numerals. Finally, as is now
tradition, Apple issued a new Pride face after
the WWDC keynote, which, like last year’s watch
face, features rainbow stripes that wiggle when
tapped or when your wrist is raised. The new
