Parasound has introduced its NewClassic 200Pre preamplifier, which
has both analog and digital inputs and bass management circuitry so it
can be used with a powered subwoofer. ‘Like all NewClassic products, the
model 200Pre represents a new generation of affordable, high-performance
audio products from Parasound,’ said Claver Harper of National AV
Solutions, which distributes Parasound in Australia. ‘The heart of the
200Pre is a versatile analog signal path which includes analogue bass man-
agement with high-pass and low-pass outputs, but the 200Pre also uses the
same Burr-Brown 192kHz-24 bit DAC found in the Halo P5 to enable USB,
and optical and coaxial digital audio inputs.’
The Parasound 200Pre has a phono input (MM/MC), two line inputs,
theatre bypass for L, R and two subs, digital USB, coaxial and optical

inputs and a front panel auxiliary line level input with 12dB of gain

for portable devices. The bass management circuit includes a variable

20–140Hz high-pass crossover, an 80Hz low-pass subwoofer output

and a full range subwoofer output. Subwoofer switching and level is

able to be managed via remote control. The Parasound 200Pre has

both default and programmed turn-on volume levels, plus input level

matching. It also comes with a dedicated headphone amplifier. Avail-

Wisdom Audio has released the P4M, a three-driver, two-way speaker

so thin it can be mounted on a wall. The Wisdom Audio P4M uses twin

100mm bass/midrange drivers and a single planar magnetic tweeter.

JBL has added another battery-powered waterproof Bluetooth powered
speaker to its range, the JBL Charge 4. The JBL Charge 4 uses a newly
developed driver with more cone area (50×90mm) and greater excur-
sion than any driver previously fitted to a JBL Charge, and JBL claims
the Charge 4 can not only play for up to 20 hours using its built-in
rechargeable battery, but also charge any smart device connected to its
charging port. The Charge 4 is also available in more colour variants
than previous Charge models, with JBL adding Dusty Pink, Forest
Green, and Steel White to the existing colour gamut. As with previous
versions, the JBL Charge 4 is rated with an IPX7 waterproof rating, so it
can be completely submerged in fresh water.
‘Compared to others of its size, the JBL Charge 4 is one powerful speaker,

updated design provides both added durability and vibrant new colours,
