like everlasting daisies. In
the wild, they form carpets of
colour in open country, and
attract visitors from afar. In gardens,
when planted en masse, they can be
just as high-impact, with their white
to pink fl owers and yellow centres.
Everlastings are a regular feature
in my garden. Last year, I sowed
seed in drifts among native shrubs,
grasses and groundcovers on the
verge, where they provided a show
for neighbours and passers-by.
Once in bloom, they can be picked
for the vase or left to go to seed in
the garden, with some seed collected
and saved to sow the following year.
If you’re short of space, you can grow
everlastings in pots for a cute display.
Plant them densely in a sunny spot
by the end of autumn. When spring
arrives, you’ll be rewarded with a
fl oral explosion that’s hard to beat.
Add some joy to your
garden with these
cheery native annuals,
