Regular readers will notice a signifi cant change
to this issue. We’ve tweaked the title of the
magazine to more accurately refl ect what’s in it,
specifi cally more SUVs. They actually outsell cars
in Australia now, so the time is right for us to
recognise that by including them in our
masthead. You will fi nd full roadtests of all the
popular SUVs inside.
As far as what else of note is happening in new
car and SUV world goes, the big news is that,
following the lead of Hyundai and Kia, most
manufacturers have now moved from three year
to fi ve year warranties.
This includes Ford, Holden, Honda, Mazda,
Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Skoda, Subaru,
Suzuki, Toyota and Volkswagen. Most also carry
unlimited kilometres coverage as well.
Kia still offers the best warranty on the market:
seven years/unlimited kilometres.
Interestingly, those holding out at three years
coverage are mainly the luxury brands: Alfa
Romeo, Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes and
Porsche. Lexus offers a four years warranty.
